Good morning everyone! The 2 lap board has come out🏁 We are dicing pretty hard to the finish this week👍 I’m pumped to say that I will be a guest on Craig Johnson’s FB live show Monday Morning. It should come on at 9am ET. Craig is the dude behind Wild Ass seat cushions. We’ve been following each other on social media for a couple months now. He looks at the world, business and personal, much the same way I do. We both embrace the lessons we’ve learned through years of riding and racing then apply those to attacking days, weeks, months... whatever you are faced with. Most of you probably do the same thing even if you don’t realize it. Once a racer, our minds become programmed to the moto world. As I’ve mentioned before, we look at physical obstacles and turn them into jumps, berms, starting gates... wherever your mind first takes you. Heck, I even walk around making 2 stroke sounds from time to time😂 My staff knows me pretty well and is used to it. The mental game of moto is pretty tough. You have to really work on your mental strength to deal with what racing puts you through. Life does the same things. The problem most of the time is we look at issues in our personal/professional lives and struggle with the choices in front of us. Human nature seems to be an instant defensive reaction regardless of what you are faced with. Sometimes that’s necessary. Most times, thinking with an open mind and training yourself to look at other options is the best course of action. Defense means you are trying to “halt” something and that slows your forward progress. What’s helped me is training my brain to take a moment to think, respond to situations without being defensive and handle whatever the obstacle is in a more efficient manner. It does take patience and life lessons learned to be able to do that. Moto is a crash course in a lot of these. Embrace it, use it and live your life incorporating moto lessons that only we have had the unique opportunity to experience. One of the the best side effects is that thinking about dirtbikes seems to bring a smile to our faces all the time😜 When I say “live your moto life”, this is what I’m thinking👍 To sum up where my brain is at this morning, that phrase isn’t about riding your motorcycle, it’s about utilizing lessons learned from the time you have spent in the seat✊️. Today’s picture is from The incredible collection by Bill Hobbs. Check out his profile for more amazing shots documenting the early years of NESC Motocross! This looks to be one from Middleboro... I could be wrong so I’ll let you guys and gals fill in the blanks on the riders and the track. Regardless, these 2 had the mental game going strong 💪🏻 dicing like they are. Love this stuff! Tune in Monday for the show with Craig! We will share the link when available.
Thanks for reading the thoughts bouncing around in an old racer’s brain! I am extremely appreciative of all the support everyone gives me on this moto adventure. Charge hard, the checkers are within sight✊️🏁
Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life, @murphette66 ❤️ She sure know how to choose the best lines and guide me in the right directions! It has been a moto filled with ups and downs for the last 31 years but I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side! I love you and am looking forward to the next laps of our race✊️🏁 ... See MoreSee Less
Anyone here ever had a 1987 cr125. This one was mine and man do I regret selling it. I guess we all have a bike we regret selling and this one is mine. It was my first real mx bike it may have been 30 years old but I rode it like it was new. Curious to know what bikes you all regret getting rid of or had a soft spot for? ... See MoreSee Less
1973 Yamaha 125. Sold it to Ken at NE motorcycle museum
My son races a ‘86 cr125
86’ & then 87’ were AWESOME years for Honda !!! Great motors , great suspension.... then I bought the , all new , 88’ and it was a flop 🙄 They never shoulda’ redesigned it !
I had one ....Best bike ever 👍🏼
I’ve owned about 60 motorcycles, and my 87 CR125 I had in 87 was my favorite also. I won more motos on it than any other bike. It was the first year Honda had rear disk brakes and the case reed induction.
Good morning everyone! Crossed flags have come out for this weeks moto🏁 Jacob Morrison posted last night about training. Specifically about putting in the work so that investments in you by parents or sponsors doesn’t go unappreciated. He is right that when people back you, whether it be parents, sponsors, friends, etc... you have a responsibility to represent them by working hard and trying. Lots of riders are looking for any type of help they can get. As a hardworking racer, there is nothing more aggravating than watching people let that support go to waste. Training is a part of that hard work. Natural talent and love of the sport will carry you far if you really are focused on your racing. Working off the bike is crucial as well... riding will improve with strength and results will show it. It won’t happen overnight, nothing great that lasts does. Patience and training your mind to accept the hard work along your journey is a must. Make it a point to talk to all the top local racers that have been at it for a while... they are approachable and will tell it to you straight as they have lived it. We have some very successful racers in the Northeast. If you love racing and are serious about it, utilize these dudes... most of them have raced motorcycles for decades. I went through years of mornings at the gym, paying attention to what I eat and practicing as much as I could. Racing was fun, especially when the results started coming in. No matter what, you do get a bit burned out after time so set your goals and work towards them. Train your mind to be strong just like your body and love your moto life. It’s the most amazing sport in the world. Enjoy all aspects of the ride✊️
Today’s picture is one by Bill Hobbs. I saw this in his collection and thought it would be perfect for “wheelie Wednesday”👍 Let’s see yours📸.
Thanks for reading an old racer’s thoughts! Stay on those fast lines and keep it pinned✊️🏁
Hey everyone, this is Billy and I have a small favor to ask! As some of you may know I travel to Haiti a few times a year and volunteer on the country’s medical helicopter. One of the full time employees there has a rapidly growing 13 year old son who actually races motocross! It is very very difficult to get good riding gear in the country due to poverty and shipping costs through customs.
I’m going back in April. If anyone has any riding gear they would donate that would fit him, I’d be happy to take it off your hands and bring it down on my next trip. I’m sure after Christmas many of you have some new gear, what better way to find last years stuff a new home?
Please message me Billy Stuart directly. He’s about a S / 28 size
Thank you to everyone who reached out to me! I was overwhelmed by how many people offered to help. I talked to Nicholai’s mother today and she was super grateful. Im going to pack my luggage as if i was heading down to see how much gear i can fif, then ill have a better idea what i can accept.
With that said - i had an idea that if people had gear that was just collecting dust and wanted to donate it, we could maybe setup a free “thrift shop” for riders who come to the track and cant afford gear / just getting into and dont have the right stuff / etc.
Thanks again to eveyone who reached out, i cant wait to share pics with everyone of Nicholai shredding Haiti in some fresh gear!
I have a ton. I’ll get it packed up for you
I’ll look I have tons of stuff. Not sure about sizes.
I think I have some.
What about parts? I'd but a set of tires for him. I don't have a lot of gear I often give it away when I'm done anyways
Be careful when I wen to the DR and brought stuff in the kids that got it were bullied and stolen from
Shane LaFlam let’s see what we have from the boys
I'm sure we have some. Do u know what size
From when he was on a pee-dub
Let me look thru Bradys stuff I’m sure can come up with some things 👍
